In 2021, we established a native tree nursery at Corrary to meet our demands for re-stocking the 160ha plantation on the south side of Glen Beag, as well as for planting new woodland in other parts of the glen.
As the nursery stock has expanded, we have also begun to develop a commercial arm to the nursery and in autumn 2022, our first home-grown oak and hazel trees were shipped out to the Knoydart Foundation, where they were planted as part of their reforestation efforts.
We can now provide a wide variety of species as cell-grown or bare root stock and in 2023 we are aiming to grow in the region of 50,000 trees.
We collect all our seed from the Glenelg area, meaning we can provide local provenance trees to any forestry grant schemes within the West Highlands. We are a fully registered supplier under the Forestry Reproductive Materials regulations (Forestry Commission) and the Plant Passport scheme (Scottish Government). We are also assured under the Woodland Trust UK & Ireland Sourced and Grown (UKISG) scheme.
If you would like to enquire about stock availability, or you are interested in helping out with seed collections please email rowan@corraryfarm.co.uk or call 01599 522 333.
During the growing season from April to October, we take on volunteers to help with the running of the tree nursery, with accommodation and food provided. Check out our WWOOF profile for more information.
