Corrary Farm
Tree Nursery

In 2021, we began an exciting project to establish a tree nursery at Corrary. Our aim is to grow native conifers and broadleaves to re-stock the 160ha plantation on the south side of Glen Beag, as well as for planting new woodland in other parts of the glen. We will also grow a small number of commercial species to meet our future firewood and building timber needs. This spring, we made our first collection of Scots Pine cones from John Muir Trust land at Coire Dhorrcail on Knoydart. Those seeds have been processed and we currently have several thousand native pine seedlings growing in the nursery, as well as Downy Birch and Wych Elm. As the nursery grows, we will produce a wide variety of species, all collected from local seed stock and grown organically in our tree nursery at Corrary Farm. We aim to have local provenance trees available to sell, both in bulk for woodland creation schemes and as individual trees, by autumn 2022.
